It’s been a really long time since we talked fashion here on Café Design and since yesterday was the three month anniversary of Prince Harry’s wedding to American actress Meghan Markle (can you believe it’s been that long?!!?), I thought we’d all like to have a look at some of her best looks as the new Duchess of Sussex.?
Markle has always been an excellent dresser but since entering the royal family her fashion has stepped up quite a bit. Despite the many rules and protocol she must now comply to, one can’t help but notice how seamless and natural her transition has been.? Every picture available (and there are tens of thousands out there) shows a happy young woman, totally confident and comfortable as a royal. I’m sure her acting years come in handy when posing for numerous public events but it feels like it is so much more than that. She’s a natural royal. Don’t you agree??
Her good friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney has been advising the Duchess on public appearance outfit choices and they’ve all been lovely, one success after another! And as it turns out, Meghan also turns to her loving husband Harry for guidance on dress code. How sweet is that? Below are some wonderful outfits wore by Markle in the short few months following their wedding.?I tried choosing a favorite but it’s impossible!?
According to the Telegraph, worldwide an estimated 1.9 billion people watched the royal wedding this past weekend (TV, Internet and in-person views combined) and I am so happy that our household accounts for a tiny fraction of those 2 billion. I set the alarm for 4am on Saturday, woke up my peeps and, hot cup of coffee and tissues at hand, started spotting celebrity after celebrity.
It’s finally here!!! The wedding of the year is tomorrow, Saturday May 19th!!? Tomorrow, Prince Harry will marry American actress Meghan Markle at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle and the ceremony will be followed by a private reception hosted by The Duke of Windsor. Two hundred lucky guests will be invited to Frogmore Castle for the wedding party and rumor has it the Spice Girls are on the guest list!?
Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination… This year’s Met Gala theme was an interesting one, one that can result in stunning costumes or total chaos on the red carpet. It’s always fun to see how different celebrities interpret a given theme because some will invariably ignore it, while others will go above and beyond to grab attention. Being a costume gala, the event can be quite forgiving. It’s a night of risks, hits and total misses, and I really admire the courage of those who chose to?“go big or go home”.
Of course, fashion is such a subjective thing. We all like and appreciate different aspects of it – the color, the shape and texture, the accessories… Sometimes, a celebrity can pull-off a look that would feel?inappropriate and silly on someone else. I find it so hard to separate the dress from the person wearing it!?That being said, this year I’m torn between loving sweet, angelic outfits that are at the same time on-theme and lady-like, and the bolder/ medieval-inspired costumes of Blake Lively and Priyanka Chopra (all gorgeous ladies with flawless style, no matter what). Here are my picks for best dressed this year at the Met:
1. Kate Bosworth in Oscar de la Renta
Happy Friday! I hope you’ve all had lovely, productive days this week. Mine has been a busy one, filled with meetings and planning (the good kind) and I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend, with trips to yoga and the pool. The weather is still messing with us as more snow is in the forecast for the weekend. Ah, well…
While coming up with ideas for blog posts, I thought about ending the week on a happy note. And what could be happier than a royal wedding in the English countryside? The countdown is on for the upcoming nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with a little over a month left until the May 19th event. Details are emerging about who’s doing the cake and flower arrangements, but for many of us, the most anticipated detail is of course, the dress. So many of us love Meghan’s fashion sense and her laid back style so I’m sure the dress will be one we’ll love as well!?
Can you believe it’s been almost a year since Pippa’s wedding last spring? I recently had a second look at the Vogue article covering the religious ceremony and thought you’d like to see photos of it again with me.
