I hope you’re enjoying a peaceful weekend wherever you are. After a fun trip to a nearby farm on Saturday, we came home with freshly-picked strawberries! We also found delicious home-made dill pickles so, despite our muddy clothes, the trip was a winner! I had some time early this morning to catch up with my favorite blogs and I came across a gorgeous Nantucket home tour over at Quintessence. How gorgeous is this sunroom vignette below?? I don’t usually blog on Sundays, but I wanted to share with you a few fun finds from this past week. I can’t promise anything, but I have plans ?to bring back the Weekly Finds series whenever I can.
“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” – Henry James
House full of boxes, it’s time for a new season! On this beautiful summer afternoon, the movers are packing and hauling out one box after another, and it finally feels real… We’re moving! After two happy years in Urbana, IL, we’re on the move again. This time we’re headed to Amherst, MA. My husband’s work takes us there? and we couldn’t be more excited! Although, truth be told, we’re sad to say goodbye to this lovely little town that has been such a welcoming home. During these past couple of years we’ve met some amazing people and made so many friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime! It’s funny…home is not where your parents live (although it sometimes can be), it’s not necessarily where your house is, but it’s with the people your heart feels most at home! I ?hope we’ll find a wonderful new home in Massachusetts!?
I had something completely different prepared for today’s post but?I feel like sharing a very sweet, very recent find. Being a mom has been one of the most challenging, yet most beautiful and rewarding experiences of my life. Each day I feel new waves of love as if heart is not only expanding but walking right in front of me, asking hundreds of questions…By the way, did you know that in average, a toddler asks about 300 questions a day? ??
Anyway, one of our great mother-daughter pleasures is reading… Guess How Much I Love You, written by Sam McBratney, is one of Isabella’s favorite good-night stories and reading it to her often has made me appreciate the work of children’s book illustrator Anita Jeram. Unbeknownst to me, aside from illustrating children’s books, she also has a very special line of gifts & stationary called Two Bad Mice…I discovered it just the other day and I can’t stop smiling thinking about it… You might already be familiar with her work, but for those of you that aren’t, here’s a selection of some of the sweetest cards & thank you notes you’ll ever see! Because sometimes a little sweetness goes a long way. And who knows, maybe a friend needs cheering up! You can purchase these cards, and many more, from Anita Jeram’s website.
According to the Telegraph, worldwide an estimated 1.9 billion people watched the royal wedding this past weekend (TV, Internet and in-person views combined) and I am so happy that our household accounts for a tiny fraction of those 2 billion. I set the alarm for 4am on Saturday, woke up my peeps and, hot cup of coffee and tissues at hand, started spotting celebrity after celebrity.
