Earlier this month, one of my favorite creatives to follow, William McLure, updated his eponymous website making it easier for all of us to admire and purchase his art. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, William has made quite a name for himself in the design world, not only as a very talented interior designer but as a free-lance artist whose work is commissioned by some of the best decorators in the field. After working for six years for renowned architect Bill Ingram, he decided to follow his passion for art. His skill with a paint brush is evident in everything he does. He has painted floors, stenciled walls, ceilings and artwork, anything that can be painted he has beautifully transformed.

In fact, he is constantly updating his own apartment and for the delight of us all, he shares bits of life and work on his Instagram account.?I wrote about his previous home before but since late 2016 he has been living in a modern loft and the following pictures illustrate clearly the power of great interior design.

His home is stunning. His vision is unique and fresh.? He took what was an empty box with exposed brick walls and concrete floors and transformed it almost overnight into an impressive space. Gallons of white paint and a clever floor plan make all the difference. As for the furniture, classic pieces and antiques he has been collecting for years mix seamlessly with a few modern elements. William has a great ability to not just design but beautifully style his interiors. Layers of personal items,?books, beautiful fabrics, art – most of it his won, candles, corals and rare antique finds bring this loft to life. Flowers and a clever pup with an appetite for tulips are the finishing touches for a home that is truly a lofty dream!

Ikea cabinets, classic white subway tiles and Formica instantly transform this open-plan room.

A part of the loft has been sectioned off for privacy. It creates a separation between the bedroom?and the rest of the space.

I don’t know about you but I just love this home! It is such an inspiration, especially for those of us still renting, don’t you think? Also, it makes me want to go to Home Depot asap and buy gallons of white paint (and a paint brush)!!!

Eva

I loved seeing the before and after photos! This space is fabulous and perfect for his large abstract paintings. He is so talented. I must admit though that I miss his former, more traditional apartment. It is one of my all time favorite spaces. Thanks for sharing this Eva!

Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for stopping by. I know what you mean about his former apartment, it was beautiful and traditional but I have also enjoyed seeing him transform this industrial modern place. The result is very cozy, classic-with-an-edge home, always camera-ready and beautifully styled. I am jealous! ??
